This mid-level to advanced position involves leadership in three main areas: technical, personnel and processes. Position provides daily supervision regarding staff and instrumentation performance and allocation, technical oversight of ongoing operation, all development, validation and improvement activities in the department, and is responsible for the quality of results released and proper performance of all laboratory procedures in their department(s).
Lab Supervisor I (Level 12) Major Duties And Responsibilities
* Serve as an organizational leader and coordinate laboratory services with other supervisors
* Responsible for hiring, firing, training, career development, continuing education, performance reviews, rewards, disciplinary actions, and for representing the department at meetings
* Schedule all resources required for testing to meet or exceed laboratory and industry requirements for reliable, timely and cost effective reporting of results
* Prepare justification for additional resource acquisition to ensure uninterrupted service and continuous improvement of services
* Maintain the lab in a state of acceptable inspection readiness to meet applicable regulatory agency standards
* Actively reviews SOP’s and methods and performs final reviews of methods and SOP’s
* Responsible for all technical activities and improvements including development of new tests, validation experiments, method improvements, etc.
* Support R&D and publication efforts

Qualified candidates will possess:
* Thorough knowledge of testing procedures and technology used in the department
* Possesses oral and written communication skills, and good computer skills
* Meets regulatory compliance standards and has knowledge of and follows proper safety practices
* Ability to effectively present technical information and respond to questions in an understandable manner.
* Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex technical data, procedures, and instructions in verbal, written, mathematical or diagrammatical form.
* Ability to appropriately handle technical and clinical inquiries or complaints
* Ability to define and resolve problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
* Ability to write presentations and articles using original or innovative techniques or style

Must have degree in Chemistry or related field which includes completion of at least 25 semester hours in chemistry including 1 or more courses in analytical chemistry and instrumentation.The following clinical experience (varies depending on degree) is also required (in hospital or reference lab on human samples ONLY; research experience is not accepted):· PhD +2 years clinical experience · MS +4 years clinical experience· BS in MT +6 years clinical experience· BS in chemical, physical or biological science +7 years clinical experience |
